TID se vaan jatkaa mun inspiroimista ja tällainen sarja kuvia syntyi ajatuksesta, että meillä kaikilla on näkymättömät rajat jotka asettavat meille aidat, joiden ulkopuolelle emme pääse. TID-näyttelyssäkin esillä ollut “The Invisible Box” käsittelee rajoja jotka meidän oma mielemme meille asettaa, joko yksilöllisesti tai yhteisöllisesti esimerkiksi kulttuurin ja sen asettamien normien ja käytösmallien kautta.

Tämä “The Body Masquerade” taas käsittelee rajoja, jotka meidän kehomme asettaa meille. Se miksi kyse on “naamiaisista” (masquerade) on se että halusin jättää henkilöt kasvottomiksi jotta heidän kehonsa saa puhua. Keitä nuo ihmiset ovat? Miksi he ovat tuollaisia kuin ovat? Miten heidän kehonsa rajoittaa heitä? Mitä se taas mahdollistaa? Näitä kysymyksiä olen itse pohtinut kuvia väsätessäni ja löytänyt niihin omat vastaukseni. En kuitenkaan halua tässä (ainakaan vielä niitä paljastaa), sillä toivon katsojan luovan kuvan henkilöistä omat tarinansa. Mikäli nämä kuvat tuovat sinulle jotain mieleen (esimerkiksi henkilöiden nimiä, ammatteja tms.) niin kerro ihmeessä minullekin kommenttiboksissa! :) Palaan jossain vaiheessa asiaan ja kerron oman tulkintani.

TID just keeps inspiring me. I have been fascinated by an idea of limits and boundaries limiting us all. In Alejandra’s description those boundaries appeared in a shape of a square. I rather see these boundaries coming from the inside, than outside and that’s my point of view when creating art based on Alejandra’s description.

“The Invisible Box”  considers boundaries our own mind set us either individually or collectively through culture and cultural rules or maners. Even though we all want to be equal and accepted as individuals, we all have our personal “mind boundaries” limiting us. They can come from something we’ve gone through our private life, some hard heartaches can prevent our future relationships for example.

But we are also limited by our time and culture. We are and we always will be a part of a bigger pack and that obligates us to act certain way. You’re not supposed to burb or fart when eating… you know what I mean. Our personal and cultural history set us limits and so does the future. We are so small particle in the Universe, but still our history influences on us and we are influencing the future.

The new “The Body Masquerade” conciders the limits our physical bodies set us. The reason I named it “masquerade” is that I don’t want to show my character’s face, just let their bodies talk. Who are they? Why they are the way they are? How does their bodies limit them? What kind of opportunities they offer in other hand? These are the questions I’ve thought while drawing and I would like viewers to think about the same questions when watching. I have figured my own answers but I don’t want to tell ’em yet ’cause I want every viewer to make all the answers of their own.
